HISTORY
Back in the early 1990s, several AA members met regularly at what was known as the Serenity Club, including George S. In November, 1991, the Club closed. George S. was told by his sponsor to get busy and find us a new club! He did what his sponsor told him!
George S. and who was then known as “the plumber” found the space at 2011 West Division.
The Wicker Park Group had its first formal meeting at 2011 West Division at 8pm on Friday, January 31, 1992. The owner of the space at 2011 decided to sell the building and the Wicker Park Group had to move. We had a steady line of group members carrying chairs and other furniture a few blocks down to 2153 West Division in January of 2004. It was at this space that we planned and held our first annual Wicker Park Banquet on January 13, 2007.
We had great meetings in the space but could not stay since the landlord did not see us as the high level tenants that we were. Our own Netta started looking and found our present space at 2601 West North Avenue. We held our very first meeting here on September 14, 2009. Come to visit us at our new location — we will be happy to have you!
Meetings are held every day of the week for the happily recovering and still suffering alcoholic.
